Three of our 5 entrants to the 2012 Kent Junior Foil competition took home medals this afternoon (20th May). Sofiya Marynyak took Bronze in the Girls U12 Alex Kingston took Silver in the boys U12 and Tom Bevan took Bronze in the Boys U14. This was the first proper competition for both Tom and Sofiya who can be proud of their achievements. The other two entrants in the boys U12, Peter Tsirushkin and Sam Fruen (also in his first comp) both got through to the second round of the DE before being knocked out. The boys displayed commendable camaraderie as they supported each other through the comp especially Alex who had a difficult final against a strong opponent. Sofiya earned respect and friends for the way she determinedly pushed through a difficult and rather painful early round fight against an inexperienced fencer and there were words of praise from coaches for the other boys too. A great day and a great result for our Musketeers.
Blackheath A Team The Blackheath A team (Richard Roseblade, Xavier Lopez del Rincon Troussel, and Andrew Nisbet), took second place in the competition held on 15th April at Blackheath High School. First place went, once again, to Gravesham’s A team, Ben Andrews, Peter Barwell and Joe Charman who swept the board with no defeats. 3rd was Invicta Fencing Club who travelled up from Sandwich with two fencers new to competing. 4th Blackheath B and 5th Gravesham B who both had new competitors Many thanks to those who made the journey to Blackheath to support this annual County competition and hope to see you again next year.
A Kent County competition at Eltham College and an ideal first competition. Three age groups, Under 10, U12 and U14 with age on 31Dec2011 being the decider but ask if you are not sure. (If you join online you must register for the site first then go in to the Join process).

This will be held at Redbridge Sports & Leisure Centre, Forest Road, Ilford IG6 3HD Right next to Fairlop underground station on the Central Line and easily reached by road via Blackwall tunnel and A12. We will send an U14 team if we can get enough together in that age group otherwise all will go in the U18 team It will be organised as a standard team relay competition.
