In a world of regulation and a growing club, we have an increasing number of legal and safety compliance regulations to deal with while we also wish to improve the fencing experience of our members.
BATLog (Blackheath Attendance and Training Log) is our solution for at least some of these.
It is very much like registering your car at a hotel or going to the doctors, a quick sign in on a tablet, confirm it’s really you, and its done. Oh, and you can also book a training slot, record your fencing goals, have your BF number checked and… confirm if you have paid your fees. 5 in 1!
Coaches get a list of lessons on their phones, can move members between coaches, see your goals, recent training and quick, secure, access to emergency contacts.
All you need is the first 3 or 4 letters from your surname, plus your date of birth. Once it ‘finds’ you it will show you your new Club Membership Number. It was unavoidable, but you don’t need to remember it. If you can, then the next time you sign in all you need is those 3 letters and that 4 digit number, and skip entering your DoB, making the task as painless as possible.
It will also advise you of your BF Membership status and fees paid info. These are only updated weekly so give it a few days to catch up.
If you get the yellow BF Membership warning, you can still fence, for now. We really do not want to turn you away so get your BF Membership and update your Club Record, or enter it at your sign in. (Download your BF Card to your phone or into your eWallet)
Book your lesson, including preferred coach, select a weapon and you’re in.
Arrive too late for a slot or we run out of time? Don’t worry your lesson will be deferred and next time you sign in you will go to the top of the list. Guests included!
You can also sign in on your own phone… The tablet at the door, coaches and some on the Committee can give you a QR Code from their phone. A quick scan and sign in as you walk down the hall (do look where you are going!) make sure you have a signal or attach to the school guest wifi. Get a card from reception.
BATLog has been developed by a member, for free. It would have cost well over a £1000 commercially.
Please note that this is not a members ‘App’, at least not yet. There is a full security set up so it can only be installed by pre-approved coaches and a few Committee member’s phones, your data is safe.
