The Club wants everyone to enjoy the sport in a safe, friendly and supportive environment

If you have any concerns about the safety of your child, another child or a vulnerable adult your first point of contact is our British Fencing trained and qualified Welfare Officer who can be contacted at welfare@blackheathfencing.org.uk

If you are not satisfied with the response, or it is not appropriate, incidents can be escalated to British Fencing’s Welfare Officer

All British Fencing qualified Coaches must have:

• Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) criminal record check
• Safeguarding Training to protect your child
• First Aid Training to deal with minor injuries on site or take informed action in the event of something more serious

These are refreshed and renewed every three years

Please note that Safeguarding training includes observing behaviours that may indicate something untoward happening outside the club and there are guidelines for reporting these

With the current shortage of coaches clubs sometimes use experienced members to provide support but they must always be supervised by a coach qualified at least to Level 2 of the 5 coaching levels.

All Club Officials, Coaches and Volunteers agree to a number of policies that apply to adults and children before taking up their roles.

All parents and members also confirm they agree to these when completing the membership form.
