A Victorian folly in memory of the British Commander William James at the battle of Suvarnadurg – the ‘Golden Fort’ just south of Mumbai in India in 1755
It is at the top of Shooters Hill in lovely ancient woodlands very close to the Club. It was opened, following restoration, in 2014 and well worth a visit with brilliant views in all directions. With cafeteria on the ground floor and only £2.50 to climb the 86 steps to the top it’s worth a visit.
It is mentioned here as one of our members is Chair of the Trustees and we are planning an event there in September
