For Parents

SwordMark is British Fencing’s Club Accreditation Programme which is designed to recognise clubs who have demonstrated a minimum level of operating standards in working with young people and therefore offer a safe and supportive club environment.

SwordMark fully complements the Sport England Clubmark Accreditation Programme and includes all Clubmark criteria.

Blackheath Fencing Club is implementing these standards and hopes to achieve accreditation by Summer 2012.

You can read more about SwordMark on the British Fencing website

As parents or carers you do need to be aware of some of these policies so we have put them together in a Parents Pack for you to download. It contains six documents but they are in print this size and only the Welcome Letter goes into a second page. These are:

  • Welcome letter
  • Child Protection policy (short version!)
  • Code of Practice for parents and carers
  • Code of Practice (ie rules) for junior members (please discuss these with your child)
  • The anti-bullying policy and
  • Equity Policy statement

When you sign the Blackheath Fencing Club Membership form you will be stating that you have read these!

If your Musketeer has started fencing there is a British Fencing Parents Group that provides support and advice.

There are also opportunities to be a volunteer and help us manage the club sessions. You can find out more about that on the Volunteer page.
